I’ve spent my career on the hiring side of recruitment. I’ve been in the room when the decisions get made about who is shortlisted, who is interviewed and who gets the offer. I’ve also been made redundant twice. The first time I saw it coming. The second was during the pandemic. Both changed how I think about careers, and they’re a big part of why I started eSquared.
I started eSquared because there were things about recruitment I wasn’t prepared to keep doing. Percentage fees reward the wrong outcome. When a placement falls over, the blame usually lands everywhere except on the recruiter. And when a brief keeps changing, most recruiters go along with it quietly when they should be asking why.
I recruit, I coach and I train, and each one feeds the others. Recruiting every day keeps my training current. Coaching shows me what job seekers are dealing with right now. The training then gives me better candidates for the roles I’m filling.
