I’ve spent my career on the hiring side of recruitment. I’ve been in the room when decisions are made about who gets shortlisted, who gets interviewed, and who gets the offer. I’ve also been made redundant twice. Once I saw coming. The second was during a global pandemic. Both times changed how I think about career strategy — and why I built eSquared.

I started eSquared because I disagreed with how recruitment was done. Not in a vague way. In a specific, here-is-exactly-what-I-won’t-do way. The percentage fee model incentivises the wrong outcome. The blame cycle when a placement falls over protects the recruiter, not the client. The brief that keeps changing gets absorbed silently when it should be challenged.

I recruit. I coach. I train. Three things that come from the same place: being in the market every day and understanding how hiring actually works. The recruitment work keeps the training current. The coaching keeps me close to what job seekers actually experience. And the training makes better candidates for the roles I’m filling.
